Spectacular, World-class, engaging, bringing the fiesta spirit… these are all the words you can hear from the Madlang People and the judges after the Bacolod Masskara Dancers rendered their number as one of the Grand Finalists of the ABS CBN Noontime Show, Showtime.

The Masskara dancers bagged the grand prize of 3 Million pesos, of which the 2 Million will be divided by the performers in the studio and in the remote area. The remaining 1 Million will go to the LGU (Bacolod City).

The dancers showcased their electrifying and very colorful performance which made Brgy. Banago, the Champion in the Inter Barangay street dancing competition last Masskara 2011, the grand prize winner of the Inter-town competition beating 7 other LGUs including two other groups from Negros ( La Castellana and Dumaguete).

From the studio, the audience was filled with the energy of the dancers not to mention their colorful and eye catching props. In the remote area, the festival mode was all over the New Government Center. The group was supposed to be the 4th group to perform, but because of technical defects, they were moved to 2nd to the last. But despite that, the dancers did not look tired and dismayed under the heat of the sun. The New Government Center was filled with dancers, supporters headed by the mayor himself, Mayor Bing Leonardia. A helicopter lent by Negros Occidental 3rd District Congressman Albee Benitez gave a huge impact to the performance, and is now trending on twitter.

The performance made Vice Ganda speechless and just pressed 10 as his score. All the judges gave the group as perfect ten.

Bailes de Luces from La Castellana, Negros Occidental also did a spectacular performance. They made the day time into night and showcased their multi – colored lights with snappy dance steps both in the studio and in the remote area.

As of the moment, the City of Smiles is in a festive and victorious mode. People are celebrating for the victory and pride that the Masskara Dancers gave them. It’s more fun indeed in the Philippines, especially in Negros Occidental!!!! Congratulations!!!

Why do people love the 80’s music and just can’t get over it?

The 80’s was an era of dancing — in the street (David Bowie and Mick Jagger), in the dark (Bruce Springsteen), on the ceiling (Lionel Richie) and with myself (Billy Idol).

Well, the 80’s beat were indeed danceable, and listeners can easily figure out what message the song is bringing. Some very popular songs of the 80’s became soundtracks from very popular movies, like “Just Got Lucky” from the local movie “Bagets” made national playground demonstration song in Philippine schools. The worldwide dance craze “Moonwalk” by Pop Icon Michael Jackson was a widespread disease for young boys learning how to dance.

Songs of the 80′s also told us about the world. Madonna said we are living in a material world; Tears for Fears went Everybody wants to rule the world, and R.E.M. said it was the End of the world as we know it. Michael Jackson and his friends, told us that We are the World.

Most 80’s music talked about love and relationships, like Long and Lasting Love. Patti Austin sang a lot of love songs the people related their lives to. Some love songs built families but some destroyed relationships and marriages too.

During the 80’s, Bacolod City was also known for Disco (now, they call it clubbing) and night out spots because of the bars and the party loving people in the City of Smiles. Some Bacolenos never got over the 80’s music genre and the 80’s party settings. From the memories of Spectrum to Guess Disco and Volare to Quorum, people love to rekindle precious moments and escapades and associate them with music.

Remember the very popular Faces Disco in Manila? The Disco Club may have been closed but after 20 years, their favorite DJs are still here, sharing the Faces music and the good news is, they are visiting the once-party hotspot in the Visayas!!!

Psychodeco Manila brings you “Disco Nation” the grandest 80’s Party ever to hit Bacolod City, a night of bottomless 80’s music from the Master himself ,DJ Jon Tupaz plus mixes from 3 other DJ’s. Club Sibeeria, Saturday, 14th of April, 2012 at 8pm.

“Disco Nation” is brought to us by: Silver Dragon Construction, V3 Pest Masters, Pest Control Service, Cong. Jeffrey Ferrer, Cong. Anthony Golez, Board Member Jose Benito Alonso, Casino Filipino Bacolod, Club Sibeeria, Check in Pension, Malones and I love the 80’s Music on Facebook.

See you there!

Bacolod-Manila-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur – Phuket-Singapore – Manila – Bacolod — can you believe how many rides are these?
First Stop-What did I do Singapore?

Since this was not my first time in Singapore, I was not interested to visit the zoo or Sentosa, instead I checked on the Marina Bay Sands and tried my luck. I was kind of lucky tho, I won a hundred and ninety Singapore Dollars. I like the shopping area at Marina, it was complete. As usual, I enjoyed the very convenient commuter buses and trains in this city. The government are just genius for creating perfect routes, honest and discipline citizens.

Next stop, Kuala Lumpur….it looks like Manila, traffic, crowded and the drivers, you can never be sure. The streets are not clean but at least I saw the Petronas Towers. I was not lucky at Genting Highlands Casino, I lost in the two casinos, The Starworld and Resorts World Genting. Anyways, goods are not so cheap, but the massage was good.

Phuket was a great place for vacation . The beach view was refeshing. The shopping places were okay. The people were friendly and the hotels were nice and cheap. During the night, keep your children away from the pole dancing party animals.

All in all, I enjoyed my trip. There were alone times and times for the family. But one thing I believe in, if we work hard everyday, we deserve a break. Don’t be selfish with, yourself, pamper your self, travel, shop and eat, for life is short!

DJ Mo Twister, what do we call this guy? Taking a video about your sentiments of your girlfriend’s abortion with your child? WTF!! What kind of people are these two?

According to his video, he feels crushed that they had to opt to abortion because both their careers will be ruined? What do you think is happening now?

At the latest, DJ Mo flew to New York and Rhian Ramos has announced that she is going to take a break from show business.

And here’s another one, GMA Network is filing charges against DJ Mo for including the station in his confessions.

Here are the words of DJ Mo in the video:

ITS 28TH OF JULY 2010, FIRST TIME IM DOING THIS. I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHY. UM, MAYBE ONE DAY YOU’LL WATCH THIS. JUST TO REMEMBER HOW HORRIBLE OF A DAY IT IS. YOURE IN SINGAPORE, YOU’VE BEEN CRYING ALL EVENING BECAUSE TOMORROW MORNING, YOU AND RHIAN WILL GO TO THE HOSPITAL HERE AND GET RID OUR BABY. IT DOESN’T MATTER NAMAN WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT BECAUSE THIS WAS HER CHOICE. I DON’T KNOW HOW LONG YOU’LL KEEP THIS AS A SOUVENIR, BUT THIS IS THE TEST. (WHISPER) THIS IS WRONG. THIS IS THE HARDEST THING (CRYING) THIS IS THE HARDEST THING YOU’VE GONE THROUGH BEFORE AND YOU’VE GONE THROUGH SO MUCH. AND WE HAVE TO BLAME OUR JOBS FOR THIS? THIS INDUSTRY THAT JUDGES YOU FOR THESE THINGS. THIS BUSINESS HAS MADE HER BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE TO TAKE THE LIFE OF OUR OWN CHILD BECAUSE NO ONE WILL FORGIVE HER FOR THIS. THAT THIS JOB WILL RUIN HER, SO WE AGREED THAT WE’D COME HERE AND GET IT DONE. BECAUSE YOU LOVE HER AND YOU JUST WANT HER TO BE OKAY. ITS NOT LIKE RHIAN IS HAVING AN EASY TIME WITH THIS TOO. ITS HARD ON ALL OF US. SHE SAID ONE DAY WE WILL SEE THIS AGAIN. AND MAYBE OUR JOBS WILL BE A LITTLE BIT EASIER AND MORE ACCEPTING ABOUT IT. ONE DAY YOU’LL LOOK AT THIS VIDEO, 20 YEARS FROM NOW, I DON’T EVEN KNOW IF YOU WILL STILL BE TOGETHER AND IT WILL STILL HURT. IT WILL STILL HURT LIKE HELL. (CRYING). YOU’LL BE SORRY FOR THIS YOUR WHOLE LIFE. I’LL BE SORRY FOR THIS MY WHOLE LIFE. IM SORRY FOR THE BAD CHOICE WE ARE ABOUT TO MAKE. ITS HARD FOR BOTH OF US. NOBODY WANTS TO DO THIS. I KNOW OTHER CELEBRITIES HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SUCCEED AFTER THIS PROBLEM, IF IT IS EVEN A PROBLEM, I DON’T KNOW IF IT’S A PROBLEM. BUT YOU KNOW, HER PARENTS ARE TOUGH ON HER. HER STATION, HER CHANNEL, HER MANAGER IS SO TOUGH ON HER THAT IT HAS MADE HER FEEL THAT HAVING THIS BABY, IS JUST NO OTHER OPTION. I KNOW RHIAN IS YOUNG. MAYBE ONE DAY WHEN WE’RE OLDER, WHEN SHE IS OLDER, THAT WE WONT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS. I DON’T BLAME HER. THE PRESSURE ON HER IS SO GREAT. THAT I KNOW SHE FEELS LIKE SHE HAS NO CHOICE. SO THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT RHIAN. ITS NOT. I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO BE YOU IN HERE, IN THIS SITUATION. ITS JULY 28, 2010 AND IM SITTING INSIDE THE HOTEL. THE RITZ-CALRTON IS SINGAPORE AND WE’VE BEEN FIGHTING ALL NIGHT ABOUT THIS. IM DOING MY BEST TO TRY TO KEEP YOU SAFE. AND ALL THIS FIGHTING IS TAKING A TOLL ON US. I WISH WE COULD HAVE THIS CHILD. I DON’T WANT TO DO THIS. THIS JOB IS SO DIFFICULT. ITS SO DIFFICULT. IM SO SORRY. I’LL BE SORRY FOREVER. AGAIN, ONE DAY YOU’LL WATCH THIS. MAYBE WHEN YOURE AN OLD MAN. YOU’LL REMEMBER HOW DIFFICULT TODAY WAS. AND I HOPE YOU WATCH THIS AND I HOPE BY THAT TIME I’LL BE MARRIED AND I’LL HAVE A FAMILY THAT I CAN TRY TO MAKE IT UP TO. YOURE GOING TO DO SOMETHING REALLY WRONG TODAY. IM SORRY FOR THAT. THIS IS BUSINESS IS SO SO HARD. THIS BUSINESS IS SO HARD ON ITS EMPLOYEES. I GUESS ALL BUSINESSES ARE. I DON’T KNOW. ITS OUR FAULT I KNOW. WE CANT REALLY BLAME OUR JOBS BECAUSE OTHER PEOPLE DID IT. BUT UM, I UNDERSTAND

Here comes Masskara once again! Time to party and unwind. Like the previous, I together with my family and my friends were visible on the streets. Friday night, I met my siblings and the kids at Robinsons Place. We ate dinner and then off to the Lacson Strip.

The crowded strip showcased more than five bands playing on every corner. I saw one in fronting PNB, one near Munsterrific, one in Coca Cola old building, another one in Enting’s Special of Sagay and another one in 21 Bar.

My first stop was at Kaisei were I met with friends Dante, Honey and Tisha with their kids, While Joco joined Mike, Dennis and Rico at the Carnival, Princess and Jan Jan with Yayas were with me in Lacson.

That Friday we went home at around 2pm. The following day was carnival time. The kids enjoyed the all the safe rides they took. That night, i partied with friends along the crowded strip.

I’m glad that Masskara has really made a name as one of tourists’ targets when it comes to festivals.I see a lot of Tagalogs, Bisaya and foreign nationals around. I hope the city will continue to improve the events and be more creative so that people will always look forward for it and remember when it’s October, it’s Masskara time!!

CF Bacolod recently celebrated its 25 years of existence in the City of Smiles. Pagcor Bacolod opened its branch in Senyang , also in Goldenfields in 1986. Then in the 1990’s it transferred to the Little Cinema location which is now the Garden Royale. In the year 2000, it finally transferred to where it is now at the Garden Hotel. Pagcor later leased the whole space, operated the hotel and named it PAGCOR Hotel.

The branch did a lot of preparations for the event. 25 years Service Awardees prepared a music video of the song “What’s Going On” representing what they’ve been through for the pass 25 years. The 20 years of Service Awardees were also recognized and the model employees and supervisors awards were also rewarded.

One of the highlights of the revelry was the opening of the New Private Gaming Room with one midi and one mini table to cater the needs of our growing market.

The Employees Party headed by groovy Branch Manager Estrella Luz Cabebe who herself sported different Spunky Silver, was such fun. Employees contended with each other for the night’s best spunky attire and for the inter division’s presentation themed “Spunky at 25”

Some of the Officers in sight were: Directors Enriquito Nuguid and Jose Tanjuatco, GM Rogelio Bangsil, GM Jose Tulio, BM Michael Bailey, BM Tomas Consolacion, BM Fidel Fuentes and former GM Alex Betita while Congressman Albee Benitez was their special guest.

The program went through the whole afternoon until the wee hours of the morning. Director Tanjuatco in his speech disclosed the Mision and Vision of PAGCOR under the new management headed by Chairman and CEO Cristino Naguiat hereunder:

Mayor Palanca flanked in between by Gov. Maranon, VG Alvarez, BM Ko, and Cong. Benitez

During the recently celebrated 78th birthday of Mayor Severo A. Palanca, the Victorias City Coliseum was jam- packed with special guests, VIP’s and the people who love him and consider him the one and only father of Victorias.

Cong. Albee Benitez, his grand nephew told him in his message “ Lolo, I will not be here without you (referring to his political career and at the same time, literally, in the coliseum) and all these people here who love you dearly. This fabulous coliseum will not be standing here if not for you.” He thanked the Mayor for the all wonderful things and accomplishments he did for the City of Victorias mentioning that some years back, it was Mayor Palanca who authored the Cityhood of Victorias.

The Mayor in return, aside from thanking the guests especially the presence of the Governor, Hon. Alfredo Maranon and former Mayor Remedios Bantug who is the sister of the celebrator, thanked the young solon for being there for Victorias stating that Victorias has found gem in Cong. Albee, who happens to be an enterprising genius. Victorias will be going through a lot of evolution because Cong. Benitez will see to it that the city is his priority and that all roads in our city will lead to progress and beyond. He also stressed how proud Cong. Albee has made him because it is the first time the District‘s Congressman is from his beloved City Victorias.

The Governor in his greetings said that the Mayor is a good friend of the Maranon family as he was a best buddy of his brother , the late Gov. Joseph Maranon (my Ninong).

Greeters like his son Dr. Chris Palanca from the US, NOHS classmates and a lot more were shown in the video presentation.

Some of the guests who were there were: Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez, former Congressman Kako Lacson, Board Member Manman Ko, Board Member Bading Escalante, Board Member Patrick Lacson, EA to the Governor and Former Manapla Mayor Manolet Escalante, another former Manapla Mayor Edilberto Vocal who is also a relative of the family. Relatives and good friends also came to celebrate the revelry with the celebrator.

Everybody feasted with the mouth watering food on the buffet table with overflowing drinks and cocktails to heat up the party. No tediousness throughout the evening as the guests were entertained by Pinoy Dream Academy Winner, Kulay Pitaka Band and Viva Hot Babes compliments of Cong. Benitez.

The night’s theme was Western so the city employees dig into their closets and wore their checkered blouses and boots. I was the judge for the best dressed and it was Dorlia Bingco who won the prize of the night.

Lolo Vero, you’re such an angel to the people of Victorias, we love you dearly and we wish you long life and good health. Happy Happy Birthday!

It’s been a while since I attended a lavish and extravagant party. Actually it’s the first time I attended a gathering like this. Well, anyway, I was so exultant to be part of the revelry.

Mr. Danilo V. Hinlo or DVH to many, one of the country’s top game fowl breeders and one of Negros’ pillars in the cockfighting industry— celebrated his 70th birthday at the La Proa Ballroom of ‘L Fisher Hotel last May 24, 2011. The venue was decorated all over with cockfighting effects, which was the theme of the shindig.

Thanks to the celebrator’s ever beautiful wife, Tita Ninfa and his 3 children, Amor, Banjo, who flew in all the way from the US and Dante with his wife Honey, all good friends of mine. They crafted everything to make their Daddy and his well wishers well-entertained. Planning and preparations took the kids more than 3 months.

DVH's love for cockfighting started early; shown above is a picture of a young and naughty DVH stroking a bullstag with cigarette on his lips, as little brother +Jessie Hinlo looked on.

A number of big-time breeders and cockfighting aficionados from all over the country were in sight all throughout the evening. Drinks were overflowing and everybody was energized to party the night away. All his family members and relatives were there to push the boat out with him. The grandkids rendered some special numbers to the amazement of the crowd. San Enrique’s Bulang Bulang Festival dancers were lent by the town’s Vice Mayor to perform for DVH.

Daughter Amor with DVH grandkids Nina, Ianna Paolo and Luigi rendering a dance number for DVH and guests

The guests were all taken aback by the video presentation. Breeders and pillars in cockfighting led by no less than the Philippine’s Cock fighting King and father of Araneta Coliseum, Jorge “Nene” Araneta greeted Tito Danilo in the video. What more, even ABS CBN stars greeted him like Gary V., Randy Santiago, John Estrada, Mariel Rodriguez, Bea Alonzo, Jericho Rosales to name a few. It was a barrel of laughs when PBB winner Melay introduced herself as Tito Danilo’s “nawawalang anak” and Piolo Pascual was introduced as the kids’ half brother that’s why “may hawig sila ni Banjo, Dante and son Paolo”.

The party went on with the beat of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s music played by the 11th Hour band, as dance instructors moved around and started grooving with the guests.

Teary eyed daughter Amor said in her thank you speech, “Dad, when we were younger, you showered us with all the LOVE, now that we’re older, it’s your LEGACY that we bring with us all the time, and that makes us so proud and lucky to be your children.” So moving and so true indeed! Happy birthday DVH!
